Your Gift Can Save Lives Non-controversial umbilical cord blood has the power to save the lives of people with many blood disorders—including leukemia and sickle cell anemia—but most cord blood is discarded. The Northern California Umbilical Cord Blood Bank (NCUBB) will be the area’s first public, non-profit cord blood bank. Unlike private cord blood banks, the NCUBB will serve anyone seeking cord blood. The mission of the Joanne Pang Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, is to launch the NCUBB at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Children’s Hospital by Spring 2009. To achieve this goal, we must raise $2.5 million in 2008. To donate, you can mail a check to Joanne Pang Foundation P.O. Box 320636 San Francisco, CA 94132

Up to 90% of those destined to die due to the shortage of matching, transplantable bone marrow could be saved by cord blood.
A special thank you to the staff, students and families at Hart Middle School in Pleasanton, CA for sponsoring a fundraising Walk-A-Thon on May 29, 2008 to benefit the NCUBB. |
